Here is what we recommend doing in your Garden in October

HEDGE & SHRUB WORK

Many hedges and shrubs can benefit from a final tidy before winter, helping keep them under control and looking their best through the colder months.

October is Here

Hi everyone,

October is here and autumn is definitely making its presence felt.

The leaves are starting to change, the evenings are getting shorter and the garden is beginning to slow down — but there is still plenty to be getting on with.

October is actually one of the busiest months of the year for getting gardens ready for winter and preparing them for a great start next spring.

Here are a few jobs we recommend considering:

AUTUMN LAWN CARE

If your lawn has suffered through the summer, now is a great time for renovation work including scarifying, aerating, repairing bare patches, overseeding and laying new turf.

LEAF CLEARANCE

Leaves can look beautiful, but too many left on lawns can cause problems.

Regular clearance of lawns, paths, patios and mulching the leaves in your beds can help keep your garden healthy and usable throughout autumn whilst feeding your soil and creating habitat for nature.

PLANTING

The cooler weather and warm, damp soil makes autumn a fantastic planting season.

Trees, hedges, shrubs and many perennials can all be planted now, giving their roots time to establish before next year's growth.

MULCHING YOUR BORDERS

A good layer of mulch can help protect your soil, suppress weeds and improve the appearance of your borders through the winter.

AND IF YOU'VE GOT A BIGGER PROJECT

Autumn is also a great time to start landscaping projects.

Patios, paths, fencing, decking, pergolas, raised beds, drainage and garden transformations can all be planned and worked on during the cooler months.

So before winter really sets in, have a look around your garden and ask yourself:

What job have I been putting off all year?

If you've got one, we'd love to hear about it.
